The students in Dr. Ritter's first grade class at Ridge View Elementary participated in the 500 Book Challenge. During this challenge, each student is provided books from the classroom library to read at home. The students log the books read at home to earn prizes. For every 100 books read, students are able to pick a prize out of the prize box, spend the day with Matilda the guinea pig, and earn a special "I Love Reading" prize. Students who reach 500 books earn a personalized trophy and a book challenge t-shirt. This school year, eight students in class read 500 books! Ms. Snell's Child Development I courses completed their preschool unit by creating and teaching lessons to actual preschoolers. Students spent class time learning about preschool age-appropriate activities and lesson planning before creating their own lesson plans. Each class had two preschool class days to work with their guests on various developmental skills.
