On November 15th, Julianna Montez (9), Emalie Denton (11), Molina Montez (10), and Kaila Rozell (9) attended the 23/24 Future Teachers of America meeting in Columbia, MO. There were roughly 500 other students in attendance from across the state to participate in a college fair, listen to a keynote speaker, the 2017 Missouri Teacher of the Year, Darbie Valenti-Huff, and then share their efforts in learning about becoming teachers.
Emalie Denton also applied for one of the four State Ambassador positions. To do so, Emalie had to submit her intent form by Nov. 1 and give a two-minute speech to the attending students and their advisors. Her speech was about what a leader looked like (you can tell by their actions and activities). Each school's voting delegate then cast votes. Emalie was selected for one of the positions. There were eight applicants in total. Emalie will work with the other 24/25 Ambassadors to plan next year's meeting, develop her leadership skills, and further investigate the teaching profession.

Thank you so much, UCM Athletics, for having us at the Jennies game yesterday! The Jennies got the win and our Elementary students had a blast! Our Martin Warren teacher, Mr. Molt, is a cheerleader at UCM. Two teachers from each building competed at halftime, and Maple Grove won. The students loved high-fiving the Jennies after the game and getting to see Mo the Mule!
