On Thursday, April 28th, DESE announced that six of the Warrensburg R-VI schools, WHS, WMS, Sterling Elementary, Martin Warren Elementary, Ridge View Elementary, and Maple Grove Elementary, received the Missouri Purple Star Schools designation. The Purple Star Schools Program is new this year to Missouri, and it is a true honor for these schools and the District to be recognized in such a way. Designated schools will receive a purple star recognition from DESE to be displayed in the buildings as well as on each school website.
The qualifications to receive this type of designation are rigorous. As a District, we recognize the staff members who served on the Aspiring Purple Star Committee this past year and who deserve heartfelt acknowledgment for all their hard work. Assistant WMS Principal Brandon Figg, who served as the committee lead/district liaison, along with each of the building representatives listed below, participated in the planning and implementation meetings and drafting of DESE's Purple Star Designation Application. In addition, these individuals worked throughout the year to coordinate programs and activities geared to supporting our military families.
Matthew Bax - WHS
Jason Abner - Sterling
Beth Tiller - Martin Warren
Jennifer Fox - Ridge View
Ashley Klein - Maple Grove
As a District, we are honored and humbled to receive such recognition and thank again the Aspiring Purple School Committee for a job well done.
