 Student and Parent Survey

Sterling Hours: Doors open at 7:50 a.m. Students are then dismissed to their classrooms at 8:15 with the official start time of school being 8:20am. Dismissal from Sterling is 3:20pm.

Mission:The Sterling community will empower our learners to reach their potential by presenting district curriculum based on individual learning styles.  Through varied assessments, we will help students build upon their strengths and improve in areas of instructional need.

 Vision: We envision Sterling Elementary as a safe, comfortable place for children to grow academically and socially.  Learning will be student-centered and collaborative, with an emphasis on inquiry and higher level thinking.  Students and adults will build positive relationships based on trust to foster success along their educational journey.

3^rd Grade:

1 box crayons any size   4 glue sticks

5 double pocket folders with center fasteners     2 boxes of Kleenex

2 composition journals   1 pair of child size scissors

1 pkg of 4 dry erase markers 24 # 2 yellow pencils

3 spiral single subject notebook paper (wide lined)

2 pkgs of loose leaf paper, 150 count (wide ruled)

4^th Grade:

1 box of 24 crayons 2 glue sticks

1 pkg of 12 colored pencils   2 boxes of Kleenex

1 pair of colored pencils   1 pair scissors

24 # 2 yellow pencils 1 pkg of red grading pens

1 pkg of highlighters (assorted color-4)

2 pkgs of white loose leaf paper-150 count -wide ruled

1 pkg of 4 black expo dry erase markers, LOW ODOR

6 solid color, with fasteners, double pocket folders (plastic preferred) to hold loose leaf paper (1 red. 1 green, 1 blue, 1 yellow, 1 orange, 1 purple)

Optional: sandwich/quart/gallon size Ziploc bags and Clorox wipes

5^th Grade:

12   #2 pencils 2 boxes of Kleenex

1 pkg of 5 or more red grading pens 2 large glue sticks

1 pkg of 8 washable markers   1 plastic ruler

1 pkg of 12 colored pencils or 1 box of 24 crayons 4 multi colored highlighters

2 pkgs any size post it self stick notes   1 pair of scissors

2 pkgs of white loose leaf paper- 250 count-wide rule

5 spiraled single subject notebooks -wide ruled (1 red, 1 green, 1 blue, 1 yellow,1 purple)

5 double pocket folders with fasteners to hold loose leaf paper (1 red, 1 green, 1 blue, 1 yellow, 1 purple)

1 pkgs of 4 dry erase markers

1 pkg of 3x5 index cards (ruled)

Optional: 1 pkg 3 x 5 index cards (ruled) and 1 box of 24 crayons

 Do I Know if School is Closed for Inclement Weather? There are several ways you can find out if school is closed. First KOKO Radio, 1450 AM; KMBC - Channel 9; our school district TV, Channel ; the district website http://www.warrensburgr6.org ; or the district information telephone line 747-5062. These same postings will announce any changes in start times or early dismissals. Our district wants to ensure that students are safe and can arrive and be home safely.
