The Warrensburg R-VI School District Foundation was created more than a decade ago to explore ways to enhance funding for the Warrensburg R-VI School District. Since that time, the Foundation's Board members have searched for innovative ways of doing just that.

We've appreciated your help! Perhaps you've purchased a Major Saver card, attended the Foundation's annual dinner and silent auction, created a scholarship, or made a personal gift. No matter how you became interested in the Foundation, I thank you and invite you to continue with us in our endeavor to provide excellence in our Warrensburg schools beyond the basics!

I am excited to share some of the happenings of the Warrensburg R-VI School District Foundation.

We are moving ahead and making progress - even over the summer!  If you have not received a newsletter "Focus on the Foundation" let me know.  It is full of stories of success from the Warrensburg School District.

We are happy to congratulate our scholarship winners from the class of 2011.  Maddie Elliott received the Dr. Michael Jinks scholarship, Megan Tyree received the Denise Holden Memorial Scholarship, Chase Ludlam received the Dr. Bruce Auchauer Memorial Scholarship, and Ciara Hall received the Lynn Solomon and Angela Cocke Memorial Scholarships.  Best wishes to them as they continue their education around the state of Missouri.

In June we recognized the top 15% of each WHS class at the Annual Academic Excellence Banquet.  Missouri State Senator and WHS Alumn David Pearce spoke, encouraging the high achievers to keep working hard and take risks on their journey through education.  Each student received a medallion especially designed for the event.  Congratulations to these students and their parents!

With the beginning of the school year, things have picked up around the Foundation.  Board Members hosted a breakfast for the administrators.  We shared ideas and created a vision for how the foundation can better support each school.  The next week, Board members bussed tables and served coffee for the district faculty and staff.  What a wonderful way to show our hard working teachers that we're here to serve them.

The Warrensburg R-VI School District Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2011-2012 Classroom Impact Grants.  Fourteen grants were awarded for a total of $9592.00.  Since 1997, the Foundation has awarded grants directly to teachers as a way to positively impact the achievement of students and reward innovation in instruction. Over $96,000 has now been awarded through the Classroom Impact Grant program.

Teachers receiving grants for 2011-2012 are Dan Richner and Julie Lewis at WHS; Holly Jennings, LuAnn Stillwell, and Brooke Mannering at Warrensburg Middle School; Susan A. Smith at Gateway Educational Center; Elaine Sargent, Heather Wallace, Karla Hinnah, and Melissa Larimore at Sterling Elementary; Clay Heishman at Martin Warren Elementary; Alisa Collier at Maple Grove Elementary.

Three grants were awarded through special gifts.  Stephany Wasson, Maple Grove Elementary, received a grant given in memory of beloved South East school secretary, Mrs. Maxine Myers.  Kathie Appleton and Wendy Marr, Ridge View Elementary and Susan Nelson, Maple Grove Elementary received their grants through a special gift to support innovative literacy programs for the classroom.

  WHS Alumni & Friends Homecoming After-Party -- Friday, Sept. 30th at Players Restaurant Lounge (627 627 E, Russell Ave.) immediately following the WHS football game.

Pancake Breakfast -- Discuss Friday night's game over a pancake breakfast at Applebee's Restaurant (255 E. Cooper Ave.) from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.  The breakfast is a fundraiser sponsored by the WHS Class of '96 for their Laura Culp-Botgat Memorial Scholarship . Tickets are $7.
