Patron Survey Completed
Mr. Ken DeSieghardt of Patron Insight who administered the patron survey reported survey results to the board of education at the December meeting. The survey of 400 patrons of the Warrensburg District shows a population that is very satisfied with the performance of its district, likes most of the ideas being considered for a bond issue, and is cautiously positive about the costs associated with such a proposal. The patrons graded 16 of the 19 areas with a grade of "B" or better and because of their input the district now knows exactly what patrons care most about. According to the survey, the areas that are most important to patrons include the following: safety of students, quality of education, quality of teachers, preparation of students, upkeep and maintenance of facilities, quality of school facilities, value for the tax dollars spent, and efforts of the district to involve citizens in decision-making. District administrators appreciate the time district patrons gave to participate in the survey and will rely on their valuable feedback in all planning decisions. Copies of the patron survey are available at the district office.

Board Approves Bond/Levy Issue for April Ballot
After receiving the results of a Patron Community Survey, hearing from bond experts and carefully weighing all the options to deal with the growth in enrollment, the board of education unanimously approved an issue that will ask voters to issue bonds in the amount not to exceed $27 million dollars which will be used to fulfill the facility plan. The combined total for the debt service and operating funds being asked is 10 cents. If passed, it will mean an increase of $19.00 per $100,000 appraised property value per year. The first phase of the plan will focus on the needs of elementary students. Student enrollment has steadily increased over the past five years. All possible elementary classroom spaces are filled and, in many cases, at numbers above those specified in the district's Class Size Framework document. Ridge View Elementary was the last elementary built and celebrates its 40th birthday. Detailed information on all phases and improvements in the plan will be shared with staff and the community in the upcoming months, so an informed decision can be made.

Patron Bond Committee Formed
A bond committee consisting of community patrons has formed under the leadership of former board of education member, Tom Kerber. Members of the committee include Jonna Albert, Treasurer, Doug Harris, Jolene Conway, Sheri Pfaff, Kim Godfrey, Greg Hassler, Kathy Bloemker, John Culp, Alan Nordyke, and Steve Larson. The group met for the first time and voted on a campaign theme of "Growing Our Community-One Dime At A Time." The patron group is an advocacy committee acting apart from the Warrensburg School District.
